The winery offers stunningly innovative and enjoyable wines under the striking label, the Foreign Affair winery.
All of the wines, both red and white, are inspired by the Italian Amarone (appassimento) process. The inspiration and guidance stems from Len and Marisa's stint in Italy during Len's tenure as Ontario's Chief Trade Representative. While there, the couple developed a deep love for Amarone, particuarly in the wines from Giuseppe Quintarelli. This old world method in a new world setting is depicted in the whimsical label which drops iconic Canadiana into a beautiful Italian landscape.
The story of the Foreign Affair winery is both intriguing and quixotic. It is about a Canadian ex-pat that falls in love with and Italian Temptress (wine that is). Once on this odyssey, the land was purchased in 2000 and planted to the finest of vinifera varietals. Finally the winery was launched in August 2008 with Louis's (Marisa's brother) unquestioning support and partnership.
