Q. What made you open Mountain Road Wine Co.?

The degree of satisfaction I get from growing grapes is increased by producing the wines as well. We were selling off a lot of our grapes and they were being blended into other wines and our terroir was being lost. By growing the grapes and making the wine, we have a chance to express our unique terroirs.

Tasting Notes

My Fave: Barrel-feremented Chardonnay

Rich, ripe peach and tropical fruits with vanilla and oaky notes. Same on the palate with the addition of butterscotch and a long clean citrus finish.

Learned to keep an open mind today! This is a true working farm and it looks the part. On the way in we were greeted by the winemaker, Steve, and he took us through a thorough and informative tasting! His enthusiasm is infectious, plus he's a real character. Good fun. His Chards were a particular favourite.
